The compressor is manufactured by Vilter Manufacturing Corporation and is a direct-connected, 3600-RPM, single screw type with one main rotor that meshes with two diametrically opposed star shaped gate rotors.
The main rotor containing six grooves is constructed of cast iron and fitted to a steel shaft and shall run @ 3550 RPM. The gate rotors are constructed of a special composite material with impregnated glass fiber. The gate rotor supports are constructed of cast iron, confined with the same eleven-tooth design.
The main rotor incorporates a straight roller bearing at the shaft end and two angular contact ball bearings at the opposite end to carry the axial load. The gate rotor supports incorporate one straight roller bearing on the composite side and two oversized angular contact ball bearings on the gate support side to carry axial and radial loads.
The one-piece housing is constructed of Viltrite™ cast iron with side access covers and removable discharge housing to facilitate servicing.
Two capacity control slide valves are provided, one on each side of the machine, for infinite capacity control from 10% to 100% without hot gas bypass control. Two variable volume ratio slide valves are located on each side of the main rotor to vary the built-in volume ratio of the machine independent of the capacity control slide valves for significantly low starting torque. Each set of slides is interlinked for symmetrical actuation; microprocessor controlled; and are electrically actuated with CSA or UL approved Class 1 Div 2 approval Servo Motors.
There is a provision for manual actuation of both the variable volume and capacity control slide valves.
All bearing, seal and rotor injection oil inlets are located at a pressure level such that only a small prelube or full time oil pump is required for start up only with a Class 1 Div 2 C-Face mounted motor.
Oil Separation
The unit includes an ASME-coded accessible oil separator with heater. The oil separator is horizontal type designed with multiple stages of oil separation. The separator is integrally mounted and piped into the system at a the System Design with the proper certification. A Dual Relief Valve is mounted and piped to atmosphere.
Valves
The unit includes a Stop and suction flapper check valve before the compressor and means to equalize to the low-pressure side of the system to assure low starting torque after shutdown. The unit also includes adequately sized suction piping design for minimal pressure drop. Along with the other valves, the unit includes sufficient valves to permit servicing of the oil primer pump, oil filter, oil line check valve and the discharge side of the compressor package. A Discharge Check and Stop Valve is Shipped Loose.
Oil Filtering
Full flow micronic oil filter and means to read pressure drop across the filter is provided. The microprocessor will stop unit when excessive pressure drop occurs across filter.
Oil Cooling
The unit comes with an option of Water Cooled or Air Cooled Oil Cooling System mounted inside or shipped loose for field piping. The System includes an oil temperature control valve. The Oil Cooler is a Steel Coil with Aluminum Fins and has ASME Certification and Documentation.

Building Specifications
The Compressor Package is surrounded by 2” polyurethane insulated panel system and meets a sound requirement of 40 dba at 150 ft. The Building includes proper access for maintenance type components from either the inside or outside the building with locking doors. Air inlet and duct work, along with protective component hoods, is provided. An option of a Catadyne gas type heater with the associated regulator valve and thermostat designed for ambient temperatures down to -30 deg F.
Package Base
All the above components is mounted on a Insulated Structural Steel I-Beam Base with a steel floor. The Base includes lugs on each corner of the unit, which are designed for the weight and lifting of the Package System. The Panel System and Base is painted Vilter Blue or any Color that is preferred, on the Interior and the Exterior to prevent any corrosion or oxidation of the components. All the proper Labeling is included on the Interior and Exterior.
Suction Scrubber - OPTION
The Package includes an adequately sized Suction Scrubber with an automatic drain valve, visual sight glasses, and a high level switch. The unit has Proper Certification and Documentation.
Air Cooled Unit If Mounted Inside -OPTION
The Air cooled Unit is Separate Unit mounted on the Skid with a Galvanized Steel Cabinet incorporating the After Cooler Coil, Oil Cooling Coil and a VFD Centrifugal Blower. The coil is designed for 100F ambient conditions utilizing ambient air external to the enclosure. The Unit is piped and flanged with properly rated Carbon Steel Flanges and has the proper Certification and Documentation.
